ABOUT US

Our History

The 1st Congregational United Church of Christ was formed in 1957 when the Wadena 1st Congregational Church and St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Lutheran Church merged as part of the greater, nationwide merging of several denominations. The new 1st Congregational United Church of Christ was formed under the umbrella of the United Church of Christ. The current church building was constructed in 1910 and is one of the oldest church buildings in Wadena.

Our Ministries

The 1st Congregational United Church of Christ has four main ministries and a church council that operate the church: Church Council, Worship, Fellowship, Stewardship, and Christian Education. Each ministry consists of members of the congregation. This ensures the broadest representation possible in how the church operates. Current members of each ministry include:

Education Ministry: Responsible for providing for the lifelong faith education.

Worship Ministry: Responsible for membership and worship interests of the Church

Stewardship Ministry: Responsible for memorials and for obtaining commitments of time, talent and money to support the operation and mission of the Church.

Fellowship Ministry: Responsible for the social and caring fellowship within the Church and community. Everyone is welcome!
